SmartKhata is an independent digital bookkeeping, ledger recording (Bahi Khata), and invoicing utility. The application is designed solely to help users record, track, and calculate transactions and balances that they choose to enter manually for their own business or personal records.

2. Not a Bank, Lending, or Financial Advisory Service

SmartKhata is NOT a bank, Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), money lender, financial broker, or registered investment advisor:

• SmartKhata does not hold deposits, issue loans, extend credit, or facilitate peer-to-peer lending.
• Nothing contained in the application or website constitutes financial, legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice.
• Users are strongly advised to consult licensed certified chartered accountants (CA), legal advisors, or financial professionals for legal, tax, and regulatory compliance.

3. Accuracy of User-Entered Records

All ledger entries, amounts, contact names, payment terms, and transactions are inputted directly by you (the user). SmartKhata performs computational arithmetic based strictly on the numerical values provided by users, but does not independently verify, audit, or guarantee the factual accuracy, validity, or legality of any user-entered records.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that all entries, invoice descriptions, and credit terms entered into SmartKhata comply with applicable local laws and agreements with your customers or suppliers.

4. Payment Reminders & Third-Party Messaging

SmartKhata offers features to compose reminder text and statements to be sent via third-party messaging services such as WhatsApp or SMS:

• SmartKhata does not initiate automated or unsolicited communications without your explicit user action (e.g. clicking a share button).
• You are solely responsible for ensuring you have appropriate consent from your customers or parties to contact them regarding transaction balances.
• SmartKhata is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SmartKhata, its developers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

• Any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in calculation resulting from incorrect user input.
• Any disputes, credit defaults, or disagreements between you and your customers, clients, or third parties.
• Loss of data, business interruption, or device malfunctions. Users are advised to regularly maintain backups of their records.
